Patrick Collier
April 29, 1956 - June 5, 2017

Patrick Collier’s physical body gave out on him on June 5, 2017 and allowed his spiritual self to transcend this life and spend a glorious eternity praising and working for God. He had hoped to go out after a long and healthy life, but that was just not to be. Although he kept himself in excellent shape and seldom partook of smoke or alcohol, his body wasn’t wired to withstand an onslaught of ailments.

Yes, he went through the “why me’s” and “what if’s” and the sorrow of not living life to the fullest as he should, but he also knew that in spite of what we experience, God is real, our Lord Christ is the way to be with Him, and we need to serve and love God and others just a little more in this life.

Pat certainly did not live an exhilarating life. Born in Fort Worth on April 29, 1956, he found himself growing up in the rural life of Cypress, Texas outside Houston. The son and brother to Aggies, he had no doubt where he would attend college and graduated from Texas A&M in Chemical Engineering after more years of struggling than he would care to admit. He was thrown into the oil fields of West Texas (Andrews). He loved the business and was further blessed when he met the proverbial love of his life, Mary Anne Lee, and married her in 1983. They had 2 daughters, Katharine and Elizabeth, both born in Andrews though they hate admitting they are just West Texas girls.

Though Pat was finally born again at age 30, he loved the Lord and was relieved and overjoyed he would be able to praise and serve Him forever. On this Earth, there were three things he treasured more than anything. He loved Texas A&M. Although he struggled in his course work, he was at home with the conservative notions and friendliness of the University. He loved the great state of Texas. He didn’t travel much, and when asked why, would comment, “Why, I’ve lived my entire life in Heaven.” He just loved this land so much.

Third, he loved his 3 girls without end. Mary has been a complete blessing. To Katharine and Elizabeth, he wanted them to know how proud he was of them and how he has been overwhelmed by their kindness and a joy to behold. Don’t forget how special you are and the depth of his love he has for all 3 of you. All of you deserve to be loved endlessly. In addition to leaving Mary, his children, son-in-laws, Erik Esser and Victor Eichhorn, Pat also leaves behind his mother, Maxine Kolb, siblings: James, Thomas, and Richard Collier and Susan Payne.

Pat is preceded in death by his father, James W. Collier, Sr.

That’s about it, at least all that matter. It’s all sad for awhile, and remember, what we think as the end is only the beginning and the start of unfettered happiness.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the general fund of First United Methodist Church of Longview; or to Gifts of Hope (2006 West Tennessee, Midland, TX 79701) in Patrick’s name.
