Brad David Ramsey

Brad David Ramsey
January 19, 1974 – May 31, 2017

Brad David Ramsey of Angleton, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, May 31st, 2017 at the age of 43. He is survived by his wife Amanda; his parents David and Bartlett Ramsey of Angleton; brother Bret Ramsey (Andrea); his daughter Haley; nephew: Thomas Ramsey, nieces: Marie-Therese, Felicity, Isabel, Clare Ramsey; Uncles: Russell Ramsey( Ann); Mark Ramsey (Rita), Aunts: Virginia Collier ( Aaron) and Shirley Bandy of College Station, Texas; in-laws David and Jeanette Besselman; brothers-in-laws: Jimmy Besselman (Cindy); Travis Besselman,( Dana), cousins: Kenneth Latimer (Jo), Billy Hutto, Suzanne Ramsey Moran (Mike); Melissa Melton Bryson (Wayne), Denton Ramsey, Hunter Ramsey (Amanda), and Christian Ramsey and many additional relatives and friends.

Brad was born in Freeport, Texas on January 19, 1974. He grew up in Angleton, graduating from Angleton High School in 1992, and then earning a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering from Texas A&M University. Brad went on to work as an Executive Project Director at Steele & Freeman, Inc, from 1998 to 2014, then as Project Manager at Bartlett Cocke General Contractors from October 2014 until his passing.

Brad will be remembered for his passionate love of life. Even though he had many accomplishments in high school such as induction into the National Honor Society, being a 4-year Varsity Letterman in Cross Country, he ran track, and being elected Senior Class Vice President, he would routinely “photobomb” yearbook club photos (before it was even a thing) simply because he loved being a part of the group. An Angleton friend said he took the first Selfie with her phone before their such a thing. Always full of mischief and mirth, Brad was deeply charismatic; he could draw anyone in with his charm and ready laughter. He could make friends in any situation, and the friends he made were usually lifelong.

Another passion of his was music. A virtual encyclopedia of rock in all its forms, Brad immersed himself in entire discographies of the bands he loved and was always eager to hear something new. This was especially true of live music. Brad perfected concert-going and could always be found on a festival field or in a small club with that characteristic grin on his face. He also enjoyed reading Stephen King novels and was actively involved in saving cats in the community for many years by adopting them. Brad’s favorite color was green and loved frogs. He also loved sports and was an avid fan of the Houston Oilers, Houston Texans, Houston Astros, Houston Rockets, the St. Louis Blues, Dallas Stars, the Texas Aggies – Gig’Em Aggies!!!

Brad is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ben and Diane Ramsey, John Bartlett and Beulah Capello Milam. The family of Brad Ramsey wishes to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time, especially the pallbearers: Joel Bandy, Jeff Bankson, Mike Gaven, Kris Glenn, Nathan Harrison, Rick Janak, Dung Pham, Matthew Sinnwell, Jeremy Stone, Jay Whitney, David Winder, his nephew Thomas More Ramsey for playing the bagpiper, and the hospitality of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 12th, 9:00 AM at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home, address: 3001 S College Ave, Bryan, TX 77801, followed by a rosary at 11:00 AM. The burial service will be held at 1:00 PM at the College Station Memorial Cemetery, 3800 Raymond Stotzer Parkway, College Station. Reverend Charlie Banks, of the Missionary Oblate of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, will be officiating the rosary and the burial. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Callaway-Jones. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made at TDECU 2900 N. Velasco; Angleton, Texas 77515 in the name of Brad D. Ramsey’s Scholarship Fund; acct # 924837552.
