Resident of Alamo, CA
John passed away peacefully at home of natural causes. He was born in Greenville, Texas, youngest son of Hugh and Fanny Mae Cameron. He was preceeded in death by his two sisters, Olive Sinclair and Carol Collins. He graduated from Greenville High School in
1949 and then attended Texas A&M for five years earning degrees in both petroleum and geological engineering, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1954. While at Texas A&M, he excelled on the water polo and diving teams.
John served in the Air Force as an instructor pilot and first lieutenant from 1954-1958. John married the love of his life, Colleen Cain, on March 10, 1957. John and Colleen had two daughters, Laura in 1958 and Sarah in 1965, six grandchildren ( Joshua, Jason,
Jessica, Joy, Kyle and Wyatt), and four great grand children ( Kenlee, Lidia, Nathan and Thea).
John worked for Chevron Oil Company for thirty seven years, moving all around the country from Texas to Colorado and ending up in Alamo, CA, as Vice President of Production and Exploration. He retired in 1992 and continued enjoying all the the activities he
loved.
John was an avid fly fisherman, backpacker, mountain climber, snow skier, scratch golfer, tennis player, and above all, an excellent bridge player. To the end, John remained true to his dream. His family received the gift of observing how life was meant to
be lived.
A small private memorial service will be held at a later date.
