Dr. Shawna Lea Chastain
September 3, 1976 - May 23, 2017
Born on September 3, 1976, in San Diego, California. Shawna transitioned to eternity with her Lord on May 23, 2017. She was 40 years in age.
Shawna graduated from Sherwood High School in Sherwood, Maryland. She went on to graduate from Texas A&M University with both her undergraduate and graduate degrees. She began practicing veterinary medicine in 2003 with a majority of her time spent at CityVet Uptown in Dallas.
Shawna experienced absolute delight in her enthusiasm as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She enjoyed all types of life from cats and dogs to exotic animals such as snakes and reptiles. She also bred and raised Rhodesian Ridgebacks, a passion since 2001, and was the owner of “Vyrtuous Rhodesian Ridgebacks”. Her clients over the years came to know her has “Mama Shawna” loving each family she brought together through her love of animals.
Among many hobbies, Shawna enjoyed horseback riding, fitness, traveling, and experiencing new things. Shawna was a loving mother, devoted wife, beloved aunt and cherished friend. Shawna will be missed by all who knew her. Shawna accepted Christ as her Lord and attended Woodcreek Church and Fivestone Church. She had a notable thirst for knowledge, as she loved the Lord.
She is survived by her husband, Gared Chastain of Sachse, TX and her daughter Eliana Faith; her father, John Walters and step-mother, Juanita Walters; her half-brothers, John Brandon Walters and Jonathon Walters; her step-father, Rick Wolf (San Antonio, TX); her mother-in-law, Linda Chastain (Ovilla, TX); her sister-in-law Alison Sanders and brother-in-law, Brian Sanders (Stephenville, TX); and her two nieces, Grace and Kelly Sanders. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carla "Crickett" Wolf; and her father-in-law, Gary Q. Chastain.
A visitation will be held at Chamberland Funerals & Cremations in Garland, Texas from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 26, 2017. A service of remembrance will be held at FiveStone Church in Garland, Texas at 10:00 am Saturday, May 27, 2017. Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Lavon, Texas. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Shawna's life.
