William Weathersby, 91, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 18, 2017. He is survived by his two daughters, Karen Kennedy and husband Norman, and Margaret Mazis and husband Chris, and his four grandsons, and one great-grandson. Bill was born in Marshall, Texas and graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University at College Station, Texas. After his marriage to Betty Covert, they lived in Houma, Louisiana before making Oak Ridge their home. Bill worked as an engineer for 35 years at Y-12 becoming manager of general engineering responsible for civil and structural engineering, engineering mechanics, and environmental control engineering. A registered professional engineer, Bill was a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers. Bill had been active at the Gun Club and enjoyed hunting with friends. He leaves behind wonderful friends that he considered family. Friends are invited to join the family at Weatherford Mortuary, 158 S. Jefferson Circle, Oak Ridge, on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm. An online guest book can be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com.
