Funeral Services for Curtis Arthur Bay, of Salado, will be 1:00 PM Monday, May 22, 2017, at the First Baptist Church of Salado with burial following at the Killeen City Cemetery. A time of visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM Sunday, May 21, 2017, at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.
Curtis Bay was born in Tama community on the Cowhouse Creek in Coryell County on December 26, 1926. His parents were Arthur and Laura Marshall Bay. Curtis grew up in Killeen and graduated from Killeen High school. He attended Texas A & M University for a year and then enlisted in the army. When he returned from war, he attended John Tarleton Community College and then transferred to Texas A & M where he graduated January 27, 1950. He started working in the family grocery business full-time upon graduation. When he and Cleo decided to open another Minimax store in either Austin or Houston, he chose Houston. This move was a significant event in his life because that is where he met and married his wife, Margaret, of 55 years.

Curtis' life was filled with his faith in God, hope for the future and love of Margaret and his children and of the life he built with Margaret. During his years in the grocery business and after retirement, he
shared his faith, hope and love with his partners, friends, family, employees and church family. When his children, Andy and Sherrie arrived, he taught them many life lessons but his greatest lesson was how to love unconditionally. Curtis believed that there is more to be seen that can ever be seen and more to do than could ever be done thus he loved to travel and hunt. Beaches and mountains were his favorite destinations. Many of his and Margaret's family trips included friends.
Curtis was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Killeen and was a member of First Baptist Church, Salado at the time of his death. Curtis served on the Board of First National Bank, Killeen, Killeen Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the Exchange Club of Killeen.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Benny and Cleo Bay, and his sisters, Margurea Shepard Burns and Treva Brown. Curtis is survived by his wife Margaret, his son Andy, daughter, Sherrie and son-in-law, Bernd Fritz. His grandchildren are Christopher Fritz and Dominik Fritz. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Bill Sinclair, his sister-in-law, Glennys Bay, his sister-in-law, Caroline Bay and many nieces and nephews.

Curtis's faith allowed him to know that he would live eternally with an imperishable body in community with other believers, without the presence of sin and death but with the perpetual presence of God. Love can touch us one time and last for a lifetime. Curtis's love touched many for a lifetime on earth and now to eternity. Because he was in our lives and taught us how to live with faith, hope and love, we have nothing to fear. He is safe in our hearts and our hearts will be joined through eternity.
