Ellis Emil Glueck Jr passed away into eternal rest on Saturday, May 13, 2017.

He leaves his wife of 51 years, Karin Vind (Pedersen), his children Lise (Donnie), Robert, Tanya (Doug) and Candace (Rodney); his grandchildren Olivia, Yasmine and Christian. He is preceded in death by his parents Ellis Emil Sr and Laura Mae and sister Kathy Sorenson. He is also survived by his brothers Charles (Mickey), James (Judy), Patrick (Shirley), Richard (Cindy), John (Sandy) and sisters Therese (Rick), Becky (Jim), Judy (Sam) and Christy (Keith) many nieces and nephews and close friends.

Ellis was born on October 14, 1941 in Eagle Lake, Texas. He was the oldest child of Ellis Emil Sr and Laura Mae Glueck. He was a lifelong resident of Columbus, Texas.

Ellis’s childhood years were spent on the farm in Bernardo, Texas. After graduating from Columbus High School he attended Texas A&M University, graduating in 1964 with a B.A. in Landscape Architecture. He met his wife Karin Vind Pedersen in Springerville, Arizona while Ellis worked as Forest Ranger for the United States Forest Service. They were married in Eagle Lake, Texas in 1965. After living and working in Houston, Texas for a number of years, they found a historical home in Columbus, Texas in which they restored from the ground up and still reside in today. He took great pride in that.

He was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, served as a Eucharistic minister and a “Faithful Navigator” for the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly No. 1136 and K of C Council No. 2971 of Columbus. Ellis will be remembered as a “man of faith” truly touching the lives of those who knew him.

He had a passion for Antique Cars and was a member of the Victoria Model A Group. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage maintaining his “fleet”. And loved to travel the United States and abroad.

He was kind hearted, hard working, and always made sure his family was provided for. He took great pride in the Beautification of Columbus. There are many designs throughout Columbus and surrounding areas he is noted for.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus, Texas on Saturday May 20, 2017 at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Augustine N. Asante officiating.

Visitation will be held at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas on Friday May 19, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A parish prayer service & Knights of Columbus Rosary will follow at 7:00pm.

Visitation on Saturday morning at Henneke Funeral Home from 9:00 am to 12 noon and additional visitation from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Burial will take place in Mentz, Texas at St. Roch’s Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.

Pallbearers will be brothers Charles, James, Patrick, Richard, and John Glueck, Son, Robert Glueck and Grandson, Christian Godfrey.

Honorary Pallbearers will be sons-in-law Donnie Godfrey, Rodney Jennings, Douglas Stehling and special longtime friends, Pat Smith, Ed Wong, and Bob Alexander.

Memorials may be given to St. Anthony Catholic Church or School Building Fund, PO Box 669 Columbus, Texas 78934; Columbus Community Hospital, 110 Shult Drive, Columbus, TX 78934; or Hospice Brazos Valley, 1048 N. Jefferson, La Grange, TX 78945.
