Curt joined Humble Oil & Refining Company, now ExxonMobil, where he won awards for serving in engineering design, maintenance, special projects, supervision, and eventually as a Quality Assurance Consultant. As a dedicated Christian, he served as a Deacon at Memorial Baptist Church and a representative for Texas Southern Baptist Convention. He saw importance in serving his community of Baytown and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
