Johnny grew up on a farm and enjoyed working with plants and animals. He served as a corporal in the US Army Co. E 145th Infantry Regiment and was a veteran of the Korean War, earning several medals of honor. Upon returning from the war, Johnny attended Texas A&M University and received his degree in Dairy Science in 1958. The following year, he met and married the love of his life, Evelyn. He worked for Borden Milk Company, Westmorland Dairy, then later, as a warehouse supervisor for Smith Air Inc., where he retired in 1995.

Johnny loved to garden and work in his woodshop, where he lovingly built bookcases, cabinets, tables, matchbox cars with his grandsons, and baby cradles for his great-grandchildren. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed times of meals, games, and laughter.

Johnny served as a Deacon and a Sunday morning greeter at Cypress Bible Church for 25years. Over time, he and Evelyn made many special friendships. He always had a gentle spirit and a loving smile. He loved to serve by helping others and he never hesitated when anyone had a need.

Most important, Johnny loved the Lord and never wavered to share the good news of Jesus Christ. His wish was that all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren would know and love Jesus just as he did. He leaves behind a legacy of wisdom, service, and love and he will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
