Born September 3, 1925 in Sweetwater, Glynn was the son of Myrtle Jewell and Vernon K. Boykin. He grew up in Sweetwater and graduated from high school in 1942. He immediately joined the United States Navy to service his country in WWII. After being honorably discharged in 1946, Glynn enrolled in Texas A&M University to obtain his Bachelor’s degree in agriculture. He started his teaching career in Strawn as a vocational agriculture teacher. Soon afterward the Navy called him back to duty to serve in the Korean war.

Once again he was honorably discharged and resumed his career in Jacksboro, where he became principal for 19 years. His staff often called Glynn “The Teacher’s Principal” because he instilled discipline and dignity in the student body which makes for a good teaching environment. While at Jacksboro, he returned to Texas A&M to obtain his Master’s degree and certification as a school administrator. Later, he was principal of Itasca High School for two years before retiring from the teaching profession. Not one to remain idle, Glynn signed on to work for the Park and Recreation System in Whitney. He worked there for 10 years when he retired again.

In 1985, he was united in marriage to Patricia Ward. Glynn was an enthusiastic traveler. He and his wife took many memorable trips.

Preceding him in death were his parents and son, Robert W. Boykin.

Glynn is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Boykin of Hillsboro; brother, Robert E. Boykin of Bedford; step-son, Clayton Ward of Pine, CO; step-daughter, Michelle Schueller and husband, Albert, and their two children, Alicia and John Albert Schueller, all of Seattle, WA; nephew, Brian Boykin and wife, Maria, of Bedford; niece, Debra Benge and husband, Allan, of LaRue; daughter-in-law, Lynn Boykin of Clyde; and two grandsons, Will Boykin of Abilene and James Boykin of Clyde.
