Howard E. Ragsdill
February 4, 1924 - April 10, 2017

Howard Ernest Ragsdill, 93, long-time resident of Junction, died April 10th at Hill Country Care Center in Junction. Howard Ernest was born February 4, 1924 on the family ranch south of Junction to Marguerite (Knox) Ragsdill and Howard Ragsdill.

Visitation for Howard will be held Monday, April 17th from 5 to 7 PM at Kimble Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held Tuesday at 10 AM at the First Methodist Church in Junction. Interment will follow at Junction City Cemetery.

Howard is survived by Tina, his wife of nearly 65 years; son, Owen Scott Ragsdill of Seguin; daughter, Christina (Ragsdill) Carroll of Wesley Chapel, Florida; grandson, Wesley Ragsdill of Sequin; granddaughter, Samantha Carroll of Wesley Chapel, Florida; as well as many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Katherine Beavers.

As a student at Junction High School, Howard was involved in Future Ranchers of America and participated the National Livestock Judging Contest in Kansas City. After graduating he attended Texas A&M University. He had a two-year interruption at college when he and his entire class volunteered for the military to fight in WWII. After completing his service, he returned and graduated with honors.
During his military service he was part of the 91st Infantry Division and fought both in North Africa and in Italy. During his service he earned the bronze star.
In 1952, he married Christina Bochat in Del Rio. They lived in Johnson City where their two children were born. He kept busy with his work and young family but also found time to serve as a Boy Scout leader and frequent member of the grand jury. He also found the time to be actively involved with the First Methodist Church. Howard spent his career in the wool and mohair business. He owned his own warehouse in Johnson City. He and his family moved to Kerrville in the early 70's where he continued to work in the business. Eventually he moved to his hometown of Junction where he was the buyer for
Laycock International, a company based in England. In a career spanning 50 years, he was well-respected and admired by all who did business with him.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Florida Chapter, 5100 W. Kennedy Blvd., Suite 195, Tampa, Florida 33609.
