Scott Porter Staggers

Scott Porter Staggers was born on April 27, 1975. In 1986, as a boy of eleven, Scott first heard the gospel and believed in Jesus Christ for everlasting life. After graduating from Marshall High school in 1992, Scott pursued and received a bachelor's degree in marketing from Texas A&M in 1996. He was baptized on June 7, 1998. While he lived in Marshall, he remained very active at Cypress Valley Bible Church. He worked at Staggers Oil Co. until 2001 after which he decided to pursue an acting career in Los Angeles. In 2009 he married Sarah Staggers (Goodding). In 2015, Sarah and Scott moved from Austin to Belton, TX. That's where his daughter and only child, Charlotte Rose Staggers was born on October 7th, 2016. He enjoyed playing golf, playing guitar and singing to his daughter. On April 16, 2017, Scott took his own life. In death, he has now experienced life in Christ. Jesus, Scott's savior once said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live." The family will miss him, and remember him fondly until they are reunited once again. Scott was proceeded in death by his father, Grady O. Staggers; his grandparents Frank & Marie Bowers, and Melvin M. & Lucille Staggers. He is survived by his wife and daughter Sarah & Charlotte; his mother and stepfather Boots & Charles Oliphint; his brother Morgan Staggers; his brother's family Cal, Becky & William Grady Staggers; his stepsiblings Karen Oliphint, Janey Flannagan, Ryan Grant, & Rory Grant; his in laws John & Cindy Goodding; his brother in law Micah Goodding; his brother-in-law, sister-in-law and niece Lucas, Kristah, & Eily Kitchen; his cousins Allen & Cheryl Staggers, and Fort Staggers; and a large extended family. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday at Cypress Valley Bible Church in Marshall, TX. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the children's ministry, or 289 Design through Cypress Valley Bible Church.
