O'BRIEN, Patrick Douglas Patrick Douglas O'Brien passed away on March 27th, 2017 and is now resting with his Lord and Savior after a lengthy battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Pat was born January 27, 1935 in Gainesville, Texas to David and Ruth O'Brien. He graduated from Gainesville High School and attended Texas A&M University receiving his Civil Engineering degree. He was a proud member of the Corps of Cadets and the Fighting Texas Aggie Band. Following graduation in 1957 he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army. After military service, Pat then began a career in Engineering and Construction, which was his lifelong passion. In 1961, he met the love of his life, Ginger, and they shared 54 years of marriage and memories. Pat co-founded RogersO'Brien Construction Company in 1969 with Steve Rogers and became a lifelong servant leader and innovator in the construction industry. He was past President of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of North Texas, founding member of the Construction Education Foundation (CEF), and founder of the Jerry Junkins Scholarship Program. Outside of construction, he was an avid golfer and Aggie sports fan. He supported in many ways those less fortunate with involvement in Prison Entrepreneur Program (PEP), First United Methodist Church Dallas, and other charities. Pat was preceded in death by his parents and son Michael Douglas O'Brien. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Ginger O'Brien, son Preston McAfee and wife Barbara, three grand-children, Justin and wife Allison, Kyle, and Katie and husband Cullen Amend, and five great grand-children, Caroline, Crawford, Rowan, June, and Fisher. He is also survived by his brother Mike O'Brien and wife Sharron and nephew Pat O'Brien. Our family wishes to thank Pat's medical team, Dr. Paul Wade and Dr. Randall Rosenblatt and the entire Baylor Pulmonary Team for their care and support. We also offer our heartfelt thanks to his caregivers, Linda Thomas, Vickie Roseberry and Karen Carter for their love and support during the past two years. Pat was blessed with many friends and associates through the years and our family takes comfort and pride in knowing that he left us all a legacy of caring and integrity that will not be forgotten. A celebration of life will be held in his honor at Highland Park United Methodist Church Dallas, located at 3300 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, TX 75205, Friday, March 31st, 2017 at 2 pm. Reception following. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat's honor may be made to Prison Entrepreneur Program care of PEP Attn: Donation P.O.
