Donald Luther Richardson
December 30, 1928 - May 2, 2016
Donald L. Richardson, age 87, passed away May 2, 2016. He was born in Hope, Arkansas to Mr. and Mrs. Bill Richardson on December 30, 1928.
He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1952. He served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as Major. At one time, during the Korean War, he was spending eight hours a day aboard a bomber commissioned to drop a nuclear bomb on Beijing if it became necessary.
He fathered four children: Linda Darlene Richardson Morgan, Brad Alan Richardson, David Bryan Richardson and Susan Lacey Richardson Kahlden, who predeceased him. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, high school sweetheart Barbara Richardson, who died in 1990 and wife Edna Richardson of Corsicana, who died in August of 2015. Others he leaves behind are grandchildren Laura Clare Manganiello, Ryan Richardson, Misty Richardson and Dr. Chris Kahlden and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Chapel on Thursday, May 12 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Danny Reeves officiating.
He will be missed by his bridge-playing buddies in Corsicana, Ennis and Athens, as well as his Sunday School classmates from First Baptist of Corsicana.
