Kara Marie Dietz
December 24, 1958 - March 5, 2017
Kara Marie Harrell Dietz, 58, of Tioga, Texas was released into the arms of the Lord on March 5, 2017, after her long battle with cancer.
She was born December 24, 1958 in Dallas to Marion (Cotton) and Wilda (Billye) Harrell. She graduated from Lake Highlands High School and earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University. She married Bruce Dietz in 1979 and their daughter Khyle, and son Barret, soon followed.
Her biggest passions were for her family, animals, sitting on the beach, and the kids she taught as a Middle School science teacher. Kara went to school each day to do the best she could for the students, and only expected the best from them, in the classroom and in life. Her students meant a great deal to her; not only did she enjoy teaching science, she most enjoyed being a mentor and someone for the students to look up to and confide in.
She is survived by her loving husband Bruce; her daughter Khyle and Christopher Morgan, and grandchildren Cayson and Keaton of College Station; her son Barret and Brenna Dietz, and grandson Bowman of College Station; and many other dear family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, March 11, 2017 at First Baptist Church in McKinney, TX. In lieu of flowers, please honor Kara by making a donation to an animal shelter or to an organization that benefits students in need.
Arrangements are under the direction of Terri Slay and Slay Memorial Funeral Center.
