Obituary sent by family

Alan Wallace Rogers was born on March 9, 1929 in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. Firstborn son to Helen Stearns and Asel W. Rogers and brother to the late Robert Rogers. Alan passed away on February 16, 2017 in Houston, Texas where he had resided for six years. He spent many years living and working in Dallas, Texas. He retired from the UT Southwestern Medical Center where he served as the Assistant Director of Design and Construction. His career spanned several companies in the building construction industry in both Dallas and Austin where his buildings and structures continue to stand.

Alan was a member of the graduating class of 1952 at Texas A&M University where he earned a degree in architecture. He served four years as a 1st Lieutenant in the Air Force stationed at Lowry AFB in Denver, Colorado. It was there that he met and married Magdalene Gabbert. They moved to Dallas, Texas then to Irving where they raised four children. (Three of whom were convinced to follow Dad’s footsteps and go to Texas A&M.) He passed on his passion for construction, gardening, and engineering to his children, as well as his dedication and compassion for those around him. He was a proud supporter of the Texas A&M Century Club for many years.

Alan is survived by the families of his four children: son Terry Rogers and wife Terri, grandchildren Sam and Taylor, of Golden Colorado; daughter Carol (Rogers) Fairchild, grandchildren Rachel and husband Ben, Stuart and Michelle, great-grandchild Lisa Tague; son Alan Rogers and wife Diane; and son Bob Rogers, grandchildren Rebecca and Christopher.

Alan requested no funeral or memorial service but we remember him with great love and abundant memories of days gone by.
