1956-2017
Susan Kay Bates, 60, passed away on Tuesday, February 28th, 2017. Born in Houston, TX on June 18, 1956, the third of five children. She came into this world with a smile.
Susan attended St. Rose, Seton Jr. High and St. Pius X. She was a Pantherette and a Varsity Cheerleader.
She graduated from Texas A&M in 1978 with a degree in Physical Education.
On August 12, 1977, she married her high school sweetheart, the true love of her life, Michael Wayne Bates. They welcomed the center of their world, Austin Michael on June 24, 1983. Mike and Austin's worlds revolved around Susan.
Susan's smile was dazzling and she shared it with the world. If you knew her for 10 minutes, you knew her forever.
Susan's tiny dancers brought so much joy to her life. Miss Susan taught thousands of ballerinas throughout Houston's private schools over the last 35 years and several of her students were selected by the Houston Ballet.
Survivors include countless family, friends and loved ones. She will be missed by all.
Visitation held at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home 9926 Jones Road, Houston 77065 on Friday, March 3rd 5-7pm. Rosary immediately following visitation. Funeral Mass at 10am Saturday March 4th at St. Ambrose Catholic Church 4213 Mangum Rd 77092 and reception following.
