1956-2017
Sandra Lynn Parker DVM, 60, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 in Houston, due to pancreatic cancer. She was born November 10, 1956 in Harlingen, Texas to Maurice and Dorothy Parker. Sandra was a member of Simonton Community Church. She was a long standing
member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners and many other Veterinary associations.
Sandy graduated from Brownsville High School and went on to complete her Bachelors Degree from Texas A&M University. In 1981, Sandy graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
Sandy's love for animals began at an early age and horses were always her special passion. Sandy's veterinary practice focused on horses for more than 20 years. The friendships that developed from her devotion to her career are numerous and immeasurable.
Survivors include her husband of 16 years, Tom Harkness, her father, Maurice, 2 step-sons, Clint Harkness and wife Codi, T.J. Harkness and wife Molly, 2 brothers, Larry Parker and wife Susanne, Jeffrey Parker and wife Heather, 4 grandchildren, Hailey, Clay,
Blayne and Presley Harkness and niece, Sara Parker. She was preceded in death by her mother.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 3, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Simonton Community Church with Pastor Steve Littlefield officiating.
