July 31, 1978 - Feb. 9, 2017

"Stu" began his next journey on February 9, 2017. Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Hewitt First United Methodist Church, 600 S. 1st St., Hewitt, Texas.
Stu was born at Fort Knox, Kentucky and traveled with his military family to many homes in several countries and states. He graduated High School from Pine Tree High School in Longview Texas as a National Merit Scholar. He attended Texas A&M with the class of 2000 earning degrees in Journalism and Physics. He then worked for several science magazines and free lanced numerous others with articles published in such journals as Harvard Medical Review, National Geographic, Science, and Nature. He applied and was accepted into a specialized Master's program with Boston University, Harvard, and MIT where he received a Master's Degree in Science Journalism. Stu worked with Florida State University in their Science Research Public Affairs Division. Stu then began working as the Senior Science Writer at Boston Children's Hospital in Boston Massachusetts.

The job was such a joy for Stu as he got to work with people that loved Science, Medical Research and most of all helping children survive and recover from often deadly and very traumatic diseases.

Stu is survived by his grandmother, Patricia Showalter; mother and father, Gail and Steve Hutson; brother, Steven and wife, Amanda; niece, Aubrie; and nephew, Connor. As well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He has been greeted in his next journey by his grandfathers, Charles Showalter of Longview, TX, George M. Hutson of Eureka, IL; grandmother, Florence V. (Beyer) Hutson of Morton, IL; uncles, Don Hutson of Eureka, IL, Gary Hutson of Chicago IL; and aunt, Joyce (Hutson) Cullum of Washington, IL.
