Nahum Tate(1923 - 2017)
NAHUM ALLEN TATE
1923-2017
Nahum Allen Tate went to our Lord on February 19, 2017. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 67 years, June Miller Tate. He is survived by his second wife, Laura Elizabeth Tate; daughter Junifer Smith, and son Bryan Tate; brother, Wallace Tate and sister, Jane Tate; grand-children, Matthew Tate; Jason Tate; Carmen Aurand Matis; Elaina Tate; Scott Smith and 7 great-grandchildren.
As a student in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A & M , his entire third-year class (including his brother Wallace) was inducted in 1943 and sent to O.C.S. where he and his brother were commissioned and sent to Okinawa in 1945. After his discharge from the Army Signal Corp, he returned to his beloved A&M to receive his B.S. degree in civil engineering.
Upon retirement, after spending 40 years with Sun Oil Co. supervising pipeline construction in Texas and Louisiana, Nahum devoted his boundless energy to civic activities including volunteer police work, the establishment of corrosion engineering courses at Kilgore Junior College and assisting in design and construction of projects for Grace Church.
A devout Christian who never met anyone he couldn't befriend, Nahum most likely greeted St. Peter his right thumb up and a heartfelt "howdy!"
Memorial services will be held Sunday, March 5 at 3:00 pm at Grace Church, 1900 E. Boling Highway, Wharton, Tx., 77488
