Arthur Jason Travis
November 12, 1953 - February 9, 2017
Arthur “Jason” Travis, born November 12, 1953 in St. Louis, MO., passed away in his sleep at the age of 63 on February 9, 2017 at Health South Hospital in The Woodlands, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Art and Jay Travis.
Jason leaves behind his loving wife of 35 years, Danielle, daughters Jennifer Travis (Jordan Groll) and Jessica Travis, grandson Nolan Travis Groll, sister Kay Hubach, brother Stuart Travis (Janet), step-mother Jo Travis, nieces and nephews Jim Smith, Bill Smith, Dean Smith (Elizabeth), Mark Smith, Emily Rochy (Floris) and Justin Travis (Vidya), and numerous cousins and loving friends.
Jason grew up in Houston and graduated from Spring Woods High School. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1975 where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Distribution.
Jason worked for 35 years with Grant Prideco, later acquired by VAM-USA, as their global Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Manager. He enjoyed working with talented and successful individuals throughout his career. His favorite pastimes were traveling, fishing, grilling and spending time with his family. Even with all of his work responsibilities, Jason remained actively involved in his family’s personal ventures. Whether it was working the sound board at the Doerre Choir performances or with the group “Showtime”, to being the President of the Cypresswood Swim Team and participating as a certified judge, he worked diligently at every event.
After experiencing a stroke in 2010, Jason and Danielle both retired and began checking off items on their bucket list. Over that seven year span, they enjoyed many adventures including an Alaskan cruise and numerous trips across the United States. Most recently a 7,000 mile trip exploring all of California.
Jason will always be remembered for his positive attitude on life paired with a kind and gentle spirit. His determination to live life to the fullest was quite evident in all that he did. He fought hard through many medical challenges these past 7 years. In 2012, he was a recipient of an eight - way kidney transplant begun by the donation of our former pastor and friend, Kathy Coble. He was looking forward to watching his new grandson grow up and traveling even more. Your family and friends will miss you dearly Jason and you will never be forgotten. Your legacy will live on.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 17th from 6-9pm at Klein Funeral Home located at 16131 Champion Forest Drive in Spring, Texas. A funeral service will take place at Klein United Methodist Church (5920 FM 2920 in Spring) at 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 18th with interment following at Klein Cemetery (9714 FM 2920 ). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all donations be sent to a charity of your choice and that you consider signing up to be an organ donor.
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in hand, wine the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming “ Woo Hoo, What a Ride !! “
