Robert Lee (Bob) Patton(1924 - 2017)
Robert (Bob) Lee Patton, 92, was born May 27, 1924 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as an only child to Roy Lee and Anna Mary (Scheer) Patton. He passed away February 1, 2017 in Scottsdale, Arizona surrounded by family. Funeral services will be 10:00AM Thursday, February 16th, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 900 W. Midway Blvd. Broomfield, Colorado.
Bob attended high school at Classen High in Oklahoma City. He attended Texas A&M University prior to enlisting in the Army then finished up his college degree after the army at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He married Dorothy June Williams, August 23, 1947. They were married for 67 years. Bob was preceded in death (September 2014) by his wife Dorothy. Bob and Dorothy moved from Rio Verde, Arizona to Broomfield, Colorado in 2006 to be close to family. Bob is survived by, a son Robert (Bob) Patton & wife Bobbie of Broomfield, Colorado; son Richard Patton of Thornton, Colorado; daughter Janet Barrows of Bloomington, Indiana; son Christopher Patton & wife Denise of Morrison, Colorado. Bob is also survived by eleven grandchildren & eleven great grandchildren; Shannon Hopkins & husband Mark, Thornton, Colorado, daughters Hannah, Haley; Jeff Patton & wife Danielle, Denver Colorado & son Oliver; Jon Patton & wife Anna of LaSalle, Colorado and daughters Bella and Lillie, son Rhett; Andrew Patton & wife Alyssa of Denver, Colorado; Laura & husband Jon Snow of Westminster, Colorado and sons Marshal and William; Paul Patton of Brighton, Colorado and daughter Alexus; Sara Fischbach & husband Eric of Thornton, Colorado, and sons Patton and Blake; Kate Barrows of Louisville, Kentucky and Adam Barrows & wife Stephanie of Sacramento, California; Kyle Sorenson & wife Krissy of Lakewood, Colorado and Erin Sorenson of Atlanta, Georgia.
Bob served in the US Army's 405th Infantry 102nd Division in Europe during World War II. He was wounded during battle in Germany and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. After the war Bob was hired by Minneapolis Honeywell as a salesman. He retired from Honeywell after 40 years as Corporate Vice President of Global Marketing. He traveled the world and was instrumental in helping to open up European Eastern bloc counties to US Businesses. Following his retirement Bob took the job as President of K-Tron Corporation in Phoenix, Arizona and subsequently retired 2 years later. During Bob's career he moved his family to Shreveport, La; Dallas, Tx; Denver, Co; Minneapolis, Mn; Philadelphia, Pa; Edina, Mn. Finally Bob & Dorothy settled in Rio Verde, AZ to a life of Golf and travel. After retirement Bob served on the boards of two companies.
Bob's hobby was golf and he played golf all over the world. He had 3 "Holes in one" and was quite proud of that accomplishment. Along with golf he loved fishing, boating and camping and introduced his kids to these activities which they all still enjoy. He served on Broomfield's Broadlands Golf Advisory Committee for two terms.
Bob never missed an opportunity to get up in front of people to talk and tell stories. He was a real charmer and had many friends and of course his family who will miss him greatly.
In addition to his social life Bob was a lifelong Catholic and often served as an acolyte and lector, until just recently, at St Dominic's Catholic Mission in Rio Verde, AZ.
