Julius Nussbaum, 80, formerly of Greenville, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014 in Louisville, Kentucky. Graveside services will be 3:00 PM, Friday, June 6, 2014, at Temple Emanu-El Cemetery in Dallas under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Rabbi Debra Robbins will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Mr. Nussbaum was born in Mexia, Texas on March 21, 1934. He was the son of Claude Albert Nussbaum and Alma Fleig Nussbaum. He married Joan Glassman on December 27, 1955 in Dallas. Mr. Nussbaum was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force serving as a Navigator. He was retired from Glassman Oxygen and Supply Company in Greenville. He was a member of Temple Emanu-El in Dallas.

Mr. Nussbaum was an Eagle Scout, President of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce in 1962, board member of Entertainment Series and Greenville Symphony Series, serving as treasurer since 1971. He was Chairman of the Greenville Planning and Zoning for over 20 years, and Chairman of the Substandard Structure Committee in Greenville and a member of the Charter Review Committee. He was recipient of the Good Citizenship Award from the Sons of American Revolution in 2009.

Survivors include his son, Jay Nussbaum of Louisville, Kentucky; daughter, Melanie Weisenfeld and husband, Howard of Westlake Village, California; brother, Claude Nussbaum, Jr. and wife, Joyce of Mexia; brother-in-law, Sam Glassman and wife, Janine of Fort Worth; and grandchildren, Brett, Adam and Audrey Nussbaum and Allison and Jason Weisenfeld. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Nussbaum, October 3, 2013 and his parents.

Pallbearers will be Harris Block, Jay Goltz, Jay Lorch, Dr. James Nicholson and Fred Weidmann.
