Death: Jun. 30, 2008

Alfred Aden Edge, age 92, of Corpus Christi, was born on June 2, 1916 in Bryan, Texas. He went to be with the Lord on June 30, 2008. He died peacefully at his home in Corpus Christi, TX.

Alfred was a Corpus Christi Realtor/Broker for over 50 years and was known as "Mr. Real Estate" in and around the Coastal Bend. He had offices in over 14 locations, at one time in his career, from Fredericksburg, Kerrville to Rockport, Kingsville, and other cities in the Coastal Bend. He attended Texas A&M University and was a true Aggie all of his life.

He retired in 2001 and had lived at his home the past few years while being attended by caregivers. He had a very close relationship with his former employee and long time friend, financial advisor, caregiver, helper, and jack of all trades, Brenda Laird. She was there for all his needs and always stood by his side in good times and bad times for over 25 years. A second daughter to Alfred for sure. Two friends that have stood by Alfred in the good times and through his recent illness are Jim and Sandra Copeland. They are like family.

Alfred was married twice. He married his first wife, Cora Hardin, in 1937, and she survives him. They had two children, his only daughter, Sandra G. Reynolds of Bryan/College Station, Texas and an adopted son, Bobby Edge who died January 30, 2003.

Survivors from this marriage include his son-in-law, Robert Reynolds, grandson, Dr. Marty Reynolds of Kerrville, great-grandchildren, Jason Reynolds, Scott Reynolds, and Lindsay Reynolds and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Victor and Paul Edge and one brother survives, Clarence Edge.

He married his second wife, Golda Weatherford Edge on December 18, 1969 and she preceded him in death on June 17, 1999. He is survived by a stepson, R. L. Weatherford (Maxine) of Kyle, Texas, stepdaughter, Betty Sue Crain Ferguson (Doug) of Sulfur Springs, Texas, grandchildren, Garlon Lee Weatherford (Cathy) of Bastrop, Texas, Sherry Lynn Weatherford of La Porte, Texas. Nelda Sue Tritch (Scott) of Lucas, Texas, Jason Crain (Leah) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Jonathan Crain (Faith) of Wimberley, Texas, Susan Elizabeth Bockholt (Brent) of Austin, Texas, great-grandchildren: Jessica Lynn, Megan Nicole, Rory, Elizabeth Catherine, Sara Annabel, Ian Mark, Emma Grace and Sam. Also, a special niece, Cissy Day (Ron) of Corpus Christi, TX.

In honor of Alfred's wishes a Graveside service was held at Seaside Memorial Park on Wednesday, July 2, 2008.
