BB "Mac" McCurdy
May 18, 1919 - January 26, 2017

BB "Mac" (Berwin Burns) McCurdy was born May 18, 1919 to Felix Lee McCurdy and Julia Mae McDonough McCurdy in Ranger Texas.

He graduated from Moran High School and went to Texas A&M College from 1937 to 1940. Although he didn't graduate he was part of the Class of 1941. He went into the Army and was an engineer in during World War II, reaching a rank of Second Lieutenant. He built runways in the Phillipines and other parts of the world. He was Honorably Discharged from the Army in February 1946.
He went to work in the engineering division for Tennessee Gas Transmission Company in 1946 and was on the ground floor of the company, running surveying crews that laid the first key 36-inch pipeline for the company from south Texas to Newport News Virginia in 13 months, a huge engineering and construction feat, and a huge step for the company. He next worked on building the compresor stations. He later managed employee benefits and did a lot of photography for the company, including the assembly of company historic film footage and photographs into a 40-minute movie called "TGT – The First 40 Years". He retired from Tennessee Gas in 1984 after 38 years of service.

Dad was a car guy from day one, driving Model As and Ts and anything he could get his hands on. He fell in love with the 55-57 Thunderbirds probably the first time he saw one. He bought his first T-Bird in 1961, a 1957. He continued owning T-Birds for the rest of his life. He still has a 57 T-Bird that he has owned and sold three times ( I guess it's actually bought three times and sold twice). It will remain in the family forever. He was a charter member of the Classic Thunderbirds of Houston, starting some time in 1970 or 1971, and was very involved with an amazing bunch of people. He was president of the club in 1974-1975, and remained a member of the local and national club CTCI until the end. He also enjoyed Mustangs and Shelbys, and even a particular GTO Judge, but Thunderbirds were his true love. CTOH was a source of many life long friends and some real characters. His love affair with cars has been handed down to his children and grandchildren, and I'm sure his great grandson will be hooked also. Can't think of a better sickness than being car crazy!

He met Ginny (Mildred Virginia Williams of Valdosta, Ga) while working at Tennessee Gas in 1952, and they were married in Monroe Louisana. They had three children, Judy (Judith Ann), Benji (Bewin Burns McCurdy Jr) and Tommy (Thomas Lee McCurdy). Judy passed away in 1972 and Ginny passed away on December 28, 1991. His son Tommy and wife, Denise since 1985 gave dad four grandchildren: Matthew Ryan "Matt" McCurdy (30), Andrew Jacob McCurdy (deceased), Teresa Renee McCurdy (26) and Michala Rose McCurdy (21). Dad had a brand new great grandson Zeke (Ezekiel Malachi Remmert) on January 18, 2017. Dad was baptized as a child, was a Southern Baptist, accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior Valentines Day weekend in 2016. He went home to be with his Lord on January 26, 2017 at the age of 97.
