David "Dave" McGinn
1949 - 2017
David McGinn, 67, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Sarah McGinn. David is survived by his loving wife Janet McGinn; Son, Kyle McGinn and wife Courtney; daughter, Kristy Blevins and husband Dave; brothers,
Fred McGinn and wife Barbara, Dick McGinn and wife Lora, Mike McGinn and wife Rhonda; sister, Mary Hudson; grandchildren, Mark, June, Phillip, Ivy, Harris, Grace; and a host of other family and friends.
Dave was born in Tucson, Arizona on November 1st, 1949 to Fred and Sarah McGinn. He grew up with 3 brothers and 1 sister. They eventually moved to Abilene, Texas where they all grew up. Dave was saved when he was 12 and later was baptized in college when he
understood his commitment better. Dave met Janet at her job, Pizza Hut, after she refused a blind date that was set up by Dave’s brother Mike. Dave arrived for the date on a motorcycle and took Janet around the town. Janet was a sophomore in college (Hardin
Simmons). Dave attended Texas A&M University graduating in 1971 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He eventually married in Abilene and Dave got a job at Texaco as a Mechanical Engineer in Port Arthur. Later they moved to Victoria with a new job at Union
Carbide in Seadrift, Texas as a Computer Engineer. Dave was devoted to his family and would even go shopping with his daughter for hours at a time. He was a quiet servant, never drawing attention to himself. Dave believes there is a purpose in everything,
even his diagnosis with parkinson’s and later with dementia. He was an inspiration to others, a fighter who never complained. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
