Gary passed away January 26, 2017 at the age of 49, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born July 3, 1967 in Novato, CA. He graduated from Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, TX and Texas A & M, class of 1989 with a degree in Environmental Design, and also MSU Turf Grass Management Program. He had a career with Natural Course Design for over 20 years. He loved to travel, play golf, volleyball, and fly fishing. His dogs, "Sonna", "Sky" and "Storm were very dear to him.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" (Burgett); parents, Robert and Ruth Chapman; father-in-law, Norval Burgett. grandmother, June Riley, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; several aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 4, 2017, 1:00 pm, St. Katherine's Episcopal Church, 4650 N. Meridian Road, Williamston, MI 48895, with Rev. Ronald Byrd, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, February 3, 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Avenue, East Lansing, MI and one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Texas A & M Foundation, (memory of Gary Chapman on memo line) 401 George Bush Drive, College Station, TX 77840 or Michigan State University Development Fund, 300 Spartan Way, East Lansing, MI 48824-9911 (memory of Gary Chapman on memo line).
