Forrest William Jordan was born September 16, 1918 in Marfa, Texas and died January 24, 2017. Forrest lived a life of love with the greatest love of his life. He was preceded in death by his bride of 73 years, Katie Jordan, his son Chuck Jordan and great-granddaughter Brandy McCafferty. He is survived by his children, Forrest (M'Liss) Jordan, Martha (Tim) Rankin and John (Suzie) Jordan, 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Forrest graduated from Texas A & M University, class of 1939. During World War II he served as a Captain in the United States Army Cavalry in the European theatre. For a short period after the war he managed ranches and taught agriculture in G.I. school. He then found his lifetime career in the scaffolding and construction equipment industry ultimately owning and operating Safway Scaffolds and Equipment Company in San Antonio, central and south Texas.
He was active in Texas A & M Former Students, 12th Man Foundation, San Antonio A & M Club, Alamo Kiwanis Club, Buchanan Dam Lions Club, and Highland Lakes United Methodist. Forrest and Katie started the AA Chapter (Brown Baggers) in Buchanan Dam. He was active and blessed in AA for 41 years. Forrest and Katie were kind, loving and supportive to many. They enjoyed family and friends and taught many children to fish, swim and ski on Inks Lake.
Memorial services will be Saturday, January 28, 2017, 3:00 pm at Highland Lakes United Methodist Church, 8303 West RR 1431, Buchanan Dam, TX 78609. In lieu of flowers, please donate to AA, Highland Lakes UMC, or Texas A & M University Corps of Cadets.
