Morris T. Reese
February 23, 1925 - January 18, 2017
Morris Thaddeus “T” Reese passed away on January 18, 2017. He was born on February 23, 1925, in Rotan, TX, to Manson Thaddeus Reese and Grace Chapman Reese.
He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan, TX, in 1942, and from Texas A&M University in 1947, with a degree in electrical engineering. A veteran of World War II, he served two years in the US Navy. He married his true love, Cecil Elizabeth Gelber, in 1945.
He worked for General Electric from 1947 to 1975 in Erie, PA, Pittsfield, MA, Columbia, SC, and Syracuse, NY. When he left General Electric, he was Manager of Sales Planning Systems, Electronic Components. He then worked for Sangamo Weston, Inc., (a division of Schlumberger) from 1975 to 1987 as Director of Research and Engineering in Greenville, SC. A registered professional engineer, he authored many articles in professional journals and received numerous patents for his work on transformers and capacitors. A child of the depression, he was able through his hard work to reach a stage where he had favorite restaurants and hotels in many cities in Europe.
T retired in 1987 and he and Cecil moved to Corpus Christi to be close to their daughter and her family. In 2015, T and Cecil moved to Mirador where they made many good friends.
Always an engineer, he loved to solve problems, whether that meant fixing a broken piece of equipment or solving a Sudoku. His interests included coin collecting, growing roses, appreciating good wine, and watching Aggie football. His interest in computers began with MS-DOS and continued all the way to Windows 10.
T was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Cecil, his parents, and his brother Robert Cole Reese. He is survived by his daughter Susan Utter (Tom), his granddaughter Amy Banks (Matthew), his great-granddaughter Kathryn Banks, and three nieces and three nephews.
Services will be private. Inurnment will be at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
