Bruce Reat
October 7, 1936 - January 17, 2017

Funeral services for R. Bruce Reat are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Lexington with burial in the Prospect Cemetery near Lexington. Rev. Chris Bruce of First Baptist Church in Lexington will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 Friday, January 20, 2017 in Lexington at First Baptist Church.

Bruce was born October 7, 1936 in Tanglewood, Texas to Norene (McLarty) and Hobson H. Reat, Sr. He attended school in Tanglewood, graduated from Lexington High School and a graduate of Texas A&M Class of 1958. On June 27, 1958, he and Martha Ann Byrne were married in the First Baptist Church in Lexington. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of First Baptist Church in Lexington. While living in Houston, he worked in the Spring and Klein I.S.D. as director of automotive, truck and bus fleet. After retirement, they returned to Lexington in 2003. He was a collector of John Deere tractors and was a member of Central Texas Old Iron Collectors. Member of American Truck Historical Society Yellow Rose Chapter, and he enjoyed watching his grandsons in their sport activities of football and baseball.

He passed away, Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan at the age of 80. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Hobson H. Reat, Jr. and Charles M. Reat.

Surviving are his wife, Martha A. Reat of Lexington; two sons, Britt B. Reat and partner Kendell Johnston of Plano and Christopher T. “Chris” Reat and wife Rebecca June “Becky” of Malvern, Pennsylvania and two grandsons, Cole T. Reat and Cade P. Reat.

Pallbearers are Cole Reat, Cade Reat, Kelly Reat, Graham Brown, Steven Wilson and Barry Benbow.

Honorary pallbearers are Rick Reat, Rick Perry, Jeff Reat, Mark Reat and Jody Reat.
