William Frederick Davis, Jr. born September 4 ,1930 in Lake Worth Florida passed away peacefully on January 15, 2017 surrounded by his family. After graduating from Lake Worth High School he went on to recieve his bachelor degree from the Univeristy of Florida, and a Ph.D from Texas A&M. He had a long and distinquished career in the medical research field with notable employments at Cornell University, National Institute of Health in Bethesda Maryland, University of Georgia Medical College in Augusta, and Illinois State University. He served in the army, was a free mason and was devoted to his christian faith. He is known for his witty sense of humor, love of ALL animals, and talking politics with his son and brother Ray. He was preceded in death by his parents Ethel and Bill Davis, his former wife Norma Davis, and Michael Wilhite. He is survived by his son James Davis and his wife Donna, Aurora Illinois; grandchildren Jimmy and Chelsea (Caleb Gajownik) and great grandchild Franklin Gajownik; his brother Ray and sister-in-law Glenda Davis, Lake Worth Florida and nieces Caren (Bobby) Salla; grand nieces/nephews Ashley (Garret) Renz and great grand niece Ella, Olivia and Bobby Salla; Carla (Nick) Fusco; grand nieces/nephews Nickey, Bella, and Sophie; Cousin Judy Fabris of Lake Worth Florida. His current wife Jean Wilhite of Franklin Kentucky and her children; Gerald (Anne) Wilhite, Melissa Wilhite Parsons, Max (Allison) Wilhite, grandchildren; Matthew (Dyan) Wilhite, Abby (Paul) Raines and great grandchildren; Ellison, Owen, Kerston and JP. We would like to thank all of the staff at Arbor Oaks, Greenacres, Florida for taking such good care of Bill.
In the memoir Bill wrote titled "The way I remember it" he ended by saying: "I think the first thing I will see is Duchess, if my greyhound doesn't beat her to me. Hell, it wouldn't be heaven if there aren't any dogs there".
