Benjamin "Bennie" John Gallagher
Bennie Gallagher passed away on January 2, 2017, at the age of 85. He was born on September 8, 1931.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John William and Stella Kircher Gallagher of Clarkwood Texas, his wife, Patricia Ann "Pat" Johnston Gallagher, his daughter, Anna Marie Gallagher and her spouse, Albert Trevino, brother, John William Gallagher Jr., and
sister, Cecelia Gallagher Peterson.
Survivors include, son Richard (Kelly) Gallagher, and grandchildren: Megan Marie Gallagher, Erin Gallagher Mumby and Derek Trevino. Bennie is also survived by his sisters: Anne Gallagher Middour and Mary Gallagher Murff; sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Johnston
Boeye and brother-in-law John Boeye, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bennie was born, lived and worked on the family farm and ranch that began in 1857 near Clarkwood Texas. He graduated from Corpus Christi College Academy and attended Texas A&M University. He met his wife, Pat Gallagher in Corpus Christi where they were married
on September 15, 1956, at the Corpus Christi Cathedral. Bennie and Pat lived and worked on the family farm. They were blessed with two children and their families. Bennie was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His
family and friends were blessed with his love, strength, character, reliability and commitment.
All enjoyed his sense of humor. Bennie's love for family and friends on many occasions involved barbecue or a campfire. Bennie lived a full life that involved all aspects of farming and ranching; 4-H as a member and leader; South Texas deer hunting; organizing
and or helping with church barbecues; building barbecue pits; and many adventures that turned into many stories.
A joint memorial service for Bennie and his daughter Anna will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church (Violet Texas) on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at 11:00 a.m.
In remembrance of Bennie donations can be made to the St. Anthony Catholic Church.
