William "Bill" Walter Welch Jr.
May 23, 1929 - November 8, 2016

William Walter Welch, Jr. ("Bill") of Plano, Texas died November 8, 2016, at Prestonwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was born on May 23, 1929, in Lynnville, Tennessee. He married Elena Hernandez in Monterrey, Mexico on November 29, 1957. He is predeceased by his parents, William Walter Welch and Camilla Boyd Welch. He is survived by his wife, Elena Welch, his daughter, Elizabeth Anderson (husband, David Anderson), granddaughter, Alissa Anderson, sister, Betty Welch and brother, Robert Welch. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
Bill is a graduate of Texas A&M University, and he served in the United States Air Force as a meteorologist. He worked for Chevron Oil Company as a geologist/geophysicist, and later for Canada Northwest. Later in life, Bill served as an academic advisor at Brookhaven College in the Multicultural Center. He was a member of the Geological-Geophysical Society for over 50 years. He was a member of the Arapaho United Methodist Church.
Bill was an avid tennis player for many years. He enjoyed walking and swimming and playing poker with his friends. He loved to travel and lived in Spain and The Netherlands for 15 years. Memorials may be sent to:
