Jack K. Shurley, 95, of San Angelo, Texas died Friday, Jan. 6, 2017. He was born in Sonora, Texas on March 11, 1921 to Pearl Lee Howse and Merton Shurley. He attended Sonora Schools and graduated from Texas A&M, enlisted in the army, served in the Army Corps of Engineers, which included serving four years overseas in Europe, Africa, Southwest Pacific and Korea, and was promoted to Major.

Living in El Paso, he worked as a construction engineer for 40 years before moving to San Angelo. He was a member of Society of American Military Engineers and was a registered Professional Engineer.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Haley Shurley, and their children: Elizabeth S. and Ron Fallin of Christoval, Texas, Barbara S. Madrid of Christoval, Texas, Kathryn S. Lowry and husband Phillip of Paris, Texas, son-in-law Edward Fredericks and Betsy of Fredericksburg, Texas, Michael H. Becker and wife Willi of Arlington, Texas, and Timothy Becker of Hayward, California. Also surviving are grandchildren David Becker, Scott Fallin and wife Laura, James Russell Fallin and wife Rebecca, Lisa M. and husband Matthew Marcoux, Jennifer M. and husband Ted Otero, Tiger Fisher, Patricia B. and husband Jason Taylor; and seven great-grandchildren, Jessica Becker, Kelsey and Aryn Riley, Mikala and Hayden Fallin, Dylan and Derek Fisher; and one great-great-grandchild, Stella Lee Becker; nephews Robert and Donald Allison; and cousin Kay Shurley Bosch.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Kenneth Alan, sister Rena Glen Allison, and step-daughter Shannon B. Fredericks.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017 in the chapel of Johnson's Funeral with interment to follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Arrangements by Johnson Funeral Home.
