Henry Charles Moeller, Jr.
November 8, 1934 - December 31, 2016
Henry Charles Moeller, Jr., 82, of Columbus, Texas passed away at his home on December 31, 2016. He was born on November 8, 1934 in LaGrange, Texas, and was the son of Henry Charles Moeller, Sr. and Isabel Fehrenkamp Moeller. He was united in marriage to Joann Perry on June 28, 1958 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus.

He attended Columbus schools and graduated from Columbus High School in 1953. While in high school, he participated in football, basketball, baseball, track, and earned 12 letters. He was a member of the 1950 football team that was undefeated and won Regional. As a student, he was a member of the award-winning band for four years, Cub Scout pack 312, Boy Scout troop 312, and earned his Eagle Scout award in 1951.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Texas A&M University in 1957. While there, he took part in the Sul Ross Group and earned the Outstanding Pre-Dental Award in 1956. He was also a member of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society.

He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1960 from the University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston, Texas. He and his wife, Joann, returned to Columbus where he continued the family practice which his father, H.C. Moeller, Sr., D.D.S. established in 1930. The practice continues in the family through Daniel T. Moeller, D.D.S., his son, who joined his father in 1992. Another of his sons, John F. Moeller, D.D.S., M.D. practiced with him from 1987-1988.

Dr. Moeller earned the 50 Year Award and was a life member of the Texas Dental Association. He was also a member of the American Dental Association for 56 years. He appreciated the loyalty of his patients and the many friendships he made during his 46 years of practice.

Dr. Moeller joined the Rotary Club in 1960 and received the Paul Harris Award (The Order of Good Fellows). He was elected to the Columbus School Board for 18 consecutive years serving as President for 6 years and was a lifetime member of the Columbus Booster Club. He also managed Little League Baseball teams and mentored in the 4-H program, both for 14 years.

He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and served on the church council. He was also a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Dr. Moeller enjoyed sporting events and dancing. His greatest lifelong enjoyment was riding around his ranch where he raised cattle, hunted, and fished.

He was preceded in death by his son, Arthur Joseph Moeller; his father, Henry Charles Moeller, Sr., and his mother, Isabel Fehrenkamp Moeller.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joann Perry Moeller; his son John Felix Moeller, D.D.S., M.D. and wife Danna; son Patrick Charles Moeller and wife, Robin; son Daniel Thomas Moeller, D.D.S. and wife, Kari; grandchildren Jeff, April, Laura, McKenzie, Miranda and Madalyn; great grandchildren Owen and Summer Moeller.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm followed by a Parish Prayer Service and K. of C. Rosary at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus.

Also, visitation on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 6, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Anthony Catholic Church under the direction of Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus.

Pallbearers are John Wooten, Joe Etheridge, Jeff Moeller, Dane Krenek, Karl Hill, and Ross Youens. Honorary pallbearers are all of Dr. Moeller’s close friends and members of the birthday club.

The family expresses their appreciation to Hospice Brazos Valley and especially to the devoted caregivers and friends Martha Coleman, Annette Huffman, Jessie Hargrove, Jean Lemons, Kris Steward and Rosella Washington.
