Floyd J. Carroll
1927 - 2016

Floyd J. Carroll passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016 in Cleburne. He was born in Mulberry, Texas on March 4, 1927, the son of Lillian Cleo (Gay) and Charles Steve Carroll.
Floyd served his country in the 42nd Division of the United States Army in Salzburg, Austria during WWII and returning home, graduated with honors from Texas A&M in civil engineering.
He met Nita Kelley at his first job with Pantex Ordinance Plant in Amarillo, Texas. They married October 19, 1951 in Amarillo.
Floyd and Nita moved to Cleburne in July of 1954 to be City Engineer. He became City Manager in May of 1955.
The Carrolls left Cleburne when Floyd served as City Manager of Kilgore from 1959 – 1964. They returned in 1964 at which time Floyd became Executive Vice-President of Rangaire in charge of lime production.
In October of 1981, Floyd founded CME Builders and Engineers, Inc. where he worked with his son Robert until his health would no longer allow.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; son, Butch Carroll; brothers, Walter and Steve Jr.; and sisters, Lucille Englehart, Mildred Hill and Lloyce Marie Block.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nita Carroll; son, Robert Carroll and wife, Kim; daughter, Linda Ware and husband, Bill, all of Cleburne; grandchildren, Kyle Ware and wife, Courtney, Katy Ware, Trey Carroll, Grayden Carroll, Ellie Carroll and Jake Carroll; great grandchildren, Audrey Ware and Henry Ware; brother, Lloyd Carroll and wife, Jackie, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; sister Bobbie Cox and husband, Billy, of Bonham, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Floyd J. Carroll, 89, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2016 at First United Methodist Church of Cleburne with the Rev. Robert Herzig officiating. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016 at First United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels of Johnson County or to the charity of your choice.
