Aaron Brown Penland, Jr.
(January 6, 1943 - December 27, 2016)

Aaron Brown Penland, Jr., 73, of Bay City passed away December 27, 2016. He was born January 6, 1943 in Mineral Wells, Texas to the late Aaron Brown Penland, Sr. and Marguerite Irene Dabelgott Penland. He was a graduate of Texas A & M College, being in the last graduating class before it became Texas A & M University. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Army during the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Jim Penland. Survivors include his wife Marilyn Penland; daughters Karen Conroy & her husband Pat of Huntsville and Aimee Guidry of Kingwood; son Andy Penland & his wife Courtney of Kingwood; sisters Carole Commo of Houston and Susie Genck of New York; brother Bob Penland of Marlin, TX; mother-in-law, Sybella Green of Bay City and grandchildren Cody Conroy, Cassidy Conroy, J. P. Pruett and Joshua Penland.

Aaron was a loving husband, father and one proud PaPa! Aaron was a rice farmer in Matagorda County for many years before becoming an insurance agent for Farm Bureau in Bay City and retired as an agent for Farmers Insurance in Edna, Texas. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and watching all Aggie games. Whoop!

The family will receive friends and family from 5PM until 7PM Friday, December 30th at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church with interment following at Hawley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pete Green, Allen Neisig, Richard Neisig, Jeff Blackmore, Daniel Estes and Kirk Carr. Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Genck, Bill Parker, Dennis Van Hees, Mike Thelen and Sylvester Walleck.
