James Bernard Wendland
November 14, 1933 - December 6, 2016

James Bernard Wendland of Bowie, Maryland passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. He was born November 14, 1933, in Hondo, Texas to Alex G. Wendland, Sr. and Mary (Fohn) Wendland. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Melvin, Winona and Alex Jr.

He is survived by his wife Genevieve; his children Carla Dubin (Scott), Jeannine Wendland (Joe Hughes), Leslie Knaggs (Joe), Anna Wendland, Brian Wendland (Stephanie) and Darci Wendland. He is the grandfather of Chase and Cody Dubin, Monica, Joseph and Ryan Knaggs, Lucas, Jacob and Olivia Wendland and Alexa Patterson.

James graduated from Texas A&M University. He worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 48 years retiring in 2004. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve for over 25 years retiring with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, watching sports, and gardening.

All services are private. Internment will take place in Hondo, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the [Alzheimer's Association].
