Robert Odell Pomroy Jr.(1950 - 2016)
ODESSA - Robert Odell Pomroy, Jr., 66, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 17th, 2016 in Odessa, TX. He was born February 22nd, 1950 in Monahans, TX to R.O. Pomroy, Sr. and Augusta Ueckert Pomroy. He graduated from Monahans High School in 1968 and from Texas A&M University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Education. He married the love of his life Deborah Rice on January 8th, 1972 in Monahans, TX.

Robert started his professional career working for Ingersoll Rand, which lead to his first small business, Air Machinery. In 1984, he started Roper Equipment Rental, where he developed many meaningful business relationships. His legacy will be carried on through family. Robert was a true outdoorsman, from his younger years of being in Boy Scouts, to playing football and baseball in high school, to his real passion of hunting and fishing. If he was not watching the Texas Rangers or cooking for family and friends , his wife, Debbie and him were traveling. Robert was a heart transplant recipient, which extended his life with family and friends another thirteen years.

Some of their most memorable trips included going to the World Series twice to watch the Texas Rangers, where they won the games they went to see; several Alaskan cruises; annual summer coastal trips for four to five months at a time; and, the one trip most remembered is when they traveled to Africa for five weeks, which included a guided Safari hunt where he hunted some eighteen exotic African animals. Robert also took pride in his herd of Alpaca's; his prize winning pecan orchard; belonging to the Chuckwagon Gang; and, his many hunting trophies, including the Brazilian Peacock Bass! Robert is survived by his wife: Debbie of Odessa, TX; three daughters: Jenifer Pomroy of Odessa, TX and her four children, Deborah Paige Dugger, Robert Wylie Dugger, Dustin Pomroy Dugger and Blake Pomroy Dugger; Ginger Aylor and husband, Brian of Midland, TX and their three children, Colton Thomas, Weston James and Sterling Deborah; and, Robin of Odessa, TX and her son Remington Hart Pomroy; three sisters: Paula and husband ,Arlen Johnson of Monahans, TX, Glenda Pearce of Midland, TX and Carolyn Kinsey of Monahans, TX; numerous nephews and nieces; and, many other family members. Preceding him in death were his parents R.O. and Augusta Pomroy. Pallbearers: Mike Kinsey, Herb Pearce, Ralph Cockrell, Joey White, Micky Harris and Brian Aylor. Honorary Pallbearers: Clyde Pogson, Mel Wilson, Craig Campbell, Dean Doyen, Jim Anderson, Gerald Jackson, Glen Harris, Jacky Sparkman and Arlen Johnson. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 20th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home at 601 North Alleghaney in Odessa, TX. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 21st at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church located 709 North Lee Avenue in Odessa, TX.
