Robert Wayne Lowe(1928 - 2016)
LOWE, Robert Wayne Robert Wayne Lowe, 88, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 16th in Dallas, Texas. He was born on October 2, 1928 in Blossom, Texas to Lela Parks Lowe and J. Elvis Lowe. He married the love of his life, Ruth Helen Secrest, on April 13, 1952. After initially making their home in Paris, Texas, the couple settled in Richardson, Texas and became devoted members of Waterview Church of Christ. After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1949, Wayne spent his career first in farming, then in insurance, and most significantly in banking, where he spent many years impacting the growth of Richardson and lives of its residents by providing loans to business that became vital to the community. Wayne also served his city in the Richardson Junior Chamber ("Jaycees"), where he was integral to city growth and development by working on projects such as the Richardson Medical Center, Richardson YMCA, and attracting business like Texas Instruments to the Richardson corridor. Throughout his career, Wayne also served his country as a member of the National Guard, where he was responsible for training squadrons for military action in times of crisis. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Lela and Elvis Lowe and his beloved wife of 62 years, Ruth Lowe. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Lowe Gher and her husband Leo of Carbondale, IL; son John and his wife Charlotte Lowe of Richardson and their children Kira and Corey of Dallas, TX; daughter Jana Shelton of Richardson, TX and her children Cliff and Emily of Richardson, TX; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be held from 3-5pm on Monday, December 19th at Waterview Church of Christ, 1409 N. Waterview Drive in Richardson. Services will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, December 20th at Waterview Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the or the Robert and Willora Oglesby Foundation.
