Ben Rice
Ben Rice of Zwolle passed away October 30, 2016 at Sabine Retirement after a short illness. He was born January 1, 1936 in Edgewood, Texas to Clifford and Grace Rice. Ben joined the Marine Corps right out of high school. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1963 and made a career in the United States Air Force as a communications officer. After retiring from the Air Force he and his wife, Andrea, moved to Toledo Bend and he began teaching sciences such physics and chemistry in Texas for several years. Ben is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and a sister. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Andrea of Zwolle; sons, Mark and wife, Cyndi of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Matthew and wife, Marilez, of Beaumont, Texas and Michael of Orange, Texas; grandchildren, Ben of Huntsville, Alabama, Grace of New Haven, Connecticut, and Ethan of Beaumont, Texas; and great grandchildren, Nate and Trent of Huntsville, Alabama. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Zwolle with Father Norsworthy officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
