Dennis Ross Averitt, 53, of College Station passed away Sunday, December 4 at his home.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 8 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Interment will follow in the Aggie Field of Honor. Visitation will be from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Dennis was born June 25, 1963 in Houston the son of Clyde and Joyce (Kilburn) Averitt. His family moved to Brenham in 1972. Dennis graduated from Brenham High School in 1981, and then attended and graduated from Blinn College. Dennis married Jennifer Janner on December 30, 1989 at St. John Lutheran Church in Prairie Hill. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 1991. While still at Texas A&M; Dennis, Larry Hodges and Nick Bergenzer opened and successfully owned Copy Corner in College Station. After receiving his education degree from Texas A&M, Dennis taught 6th grade Literature at Oakwood and Willow Branch Intermediate Schools in College Station. After a few years he stepped down from teaching and was the founder and owner of Classic Cuts, Classic Cuts Plus and Corner Cuts. Dennis is a member of Peace Lutheran Church in College Station.

Dennis was known for being passionate about the things he cared most about, which included his family, friends, being an Aggie, his entrepreneurial spirit, the kids he taught, and as many of you found out this presidential election, politics.

Dennis enjoyed traveling, listening to 60's, 70's, and 80's classic rock and going to many concerts with his family.

Dennis is preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Averitt; infant sister, Theresa Joyce Averitt; and his father-in-law, Eugene Janner.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Averitt; daughter, Madison Averitt; son, Drake Averitt; father, Clyde Averitt; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Robin Averitt, Donald and Sylvia Averitt; mother-in-law, Joydell Janner; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dan and Cheryl McGuire; nephews, Josh Averitt and wife Britney, Jake Averitt, Chase McGuire and Cameron McGuire.
