Tom H. Owen was born on December 7, 1925 in Leonard, Texas to Eulas & Grace Owen. He attended Leonard School and graduated in 1941. After graduation Tom attended Texas A&M before being called up for active duty March 1943 and graduating in 1945. Tom married
the love of his life, Betty Johnson December 15, 1945. As a military family, they lived all over the world, finally settling in Richardson, Texas in 1968. After settling in Richardson Tom & Betty became long time members of Heights Baptist Church and attended
together until their health prevented them. Tom retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the US Army in 1972. He later joined the SMU Police Department. After his second retirement, he enjoyed working at H&R Block and Sun Rexall. Tom & Betty were very active in
the 42nd Rainbow Division after their retirement. They enjoyed traveling to attend National Conventions. Tom’s prayers were answered when he left us on the morning of October 29, 2016.
Tom is preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. Owen and son, Ronald J. Owen. He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Owen of Richardson; Granddaughter Gabe Olivier & husband, Claude of Beaumont; Grandson Tom H. Owen II & wife, Christy of Cypress; Granddaughter
Victoria Owen of LaPorte. Great Grandchildren Emily Owen, Jennifer Owen, Zachary Pierre, Connor McPeek and Owen McPeek. One Great-Great Granddaughter Jade Jaggers.
The family would like to give thanks to the staff (family) and friends at Cottonwood Creek. Your love and kindness over the last 6 years made Cottonwood feel like a home to Tom. Special thanks go to Phil & Cookie Slate, Darrell Grice and Franki Sutherlin. You
will never know what your support and prayers meant to us (his grandchildren) during Tom’s last month. The times you sat with us or with him were a great blessing. Chuck and Gayla Rice, Ira Heid and Margie Quintol thank you for the times you visited or checked
on Granddad.
Visitation held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Restland Funeral Home.
Graveside service held at 1:30 PM, Saturday, November 5th at Restland Memorial Park.
Memorial Service will be held at Cottonwood Creek on Saturday, November 5th at 3:00 PM. Cottonwood Creek, 1111 West Shore Drive, Richardson, TX 75080.
