James Edward "Jim" McMUNIGAL
McMUNIGAL, James "Jim" Edward Of Hesperia, California, age 69, passed away in his sleep at his home with his beloved wife and daughter by his side on Monday, October 31, 2016. Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 am Saturday, November 26, 2016 at St Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Gordon Reigle will officiate. Memorial Contributions may be made to . Jim was born on December 11, 1946, to Edward and Dorothy McMunigal in Flint, Michigan. He was raised in Flint the eldest of seven children in a loving and active home. He attended St. Luke elementary and graduated from St Michael high school in 1965. While attending Flint Junior College in 1967, he met the love of his life Ruth Eileen Sweeney. After receiving his AA from Flint JC he went on to receive a BA in Sociology from Eastern Michigan University and received a Special certificate in Reading from MSU. He and Ruth were married at St Michael church in Flint June 3, 1972. After teaching one year at Flint Powers Catholic, he was Director of Head Start in Marlette, Michigan and was Director of adult basic education in Clare-Harrison. Jim attended Central Michigan University where he received his Masters in Community Leadership and Education in 1975. He attended Texas A & M where he studied as a C. S. Mott Academic Fellow in 1976, and where he later received his PhD in Curriculum Instruction and Human Development in 1986. Jim and Ruth welcomed their only child, Kelly Ruth, in Houston, TX April 29, 1981, and she quickly became the apple of her daddy's eye. He worked various jobs until 1986, when he joined his drive for excellence and love of planes into a career in aerospace. Eventually retiring from Boeing in 2001, as a Technical Fellow. His loves in life were his family, music, martial arts and planes. He was a very learned, gifted man, and was a coach to others using his kind heart and brilliant mind. A loving husband, father, caring son, beloved brother and cherished friend, he will be missed by all. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Ruth and his daughter, Kelly; his siblings, Robert (Gloria) McMunigal, Ronald McMunigal, John (Rose) McMunigal, MaryAnn (Jack) Petrill, Daniel (Tina) McMunigal and Maureen (Jaime) Ballesteros; numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Edward and Dorothy.
