William "Bill" Andrew Fann
September 20, 1922 - November 9, 2016
Bill Fann was the firstborn son of Marion and Grace Fann. He was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on September 20, 1922.
Bill graduated from Buna High School and worked in the shipyards of Port Arthur during the early part of World War II. He volunteered for the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in Europe as a ball turret gunner and bombardier on a B-17. His plane was damaged on
a mission and crash landed in Spain shortly after D-Day in 1944.
He returned home to his wife, Molly, recover from his injuries and attended Texas A&M. He graduated in 1949 and started his professional career with Jefferson Chemical, Texaco, and several engineering firms over the years. He and Molly had three children -
Dave, Bill, and Stephanie. He continued to work until the age of 82, providing for his family and touching the lives of countless others with his work ethic, ingenuity, and love. Bill was well known as the guy who could fix anything. He was also known for
the phrase, "can't ever did nothing." He never gave up and did not let others around him give up, either.
Following Molly's passing in 2005, Bill cared for his eldest son, Dave, as an act of love to his wife, Molly. His focus in the later stage of his life was his family farm in Buna. It is the place that he was happiest and he and Dave spent many days there enjoying
the quiet.
Bill's life and passing were celebrated at a private service on November 18 at Klein Funeral Home - Champions. He was entombed in the Klein Memorial Park Mausoleum on FM 2920 alongside his wife, Molly.
