Travis Beacher Reese
(January 18, 1924 - October 27, 2016)

Dr. Travis Beacher Reese, 92, passed away in Sugar Land, TX, on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at 3:13 am.

Born January 18, 1924, in Rogers, Bell County, TX, near Temple. His schooling includes: 1941 Rogers High School graduate, Texas A&M University class of 1945 undergraduate and soon after a Master’s Degree, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Houston. Vocations included: teaching Vocational Agriculture 32 years, with most of that time at Lamar Consolidated High School and a real estate broker and appraiser, developing and selling land all over Texas and several other states. The husband and wife team of Travis and Joan spent years of their lives developing and promoting the Rosenberg Railroad Museum.

As a lifelong Christian, he was raised in the First Christian Church of Rogers and then joined Central Christian Church of Rosenberg upon moving to the area.

Reese joins his son, Randy Travis Reese; parents, Albert Wallace Reese and Minnie Mae Bullock Reese; siblings, Wallace Reese, Zelda Reese Williams and Billie Reese Ralston; and a lifetime of many dear friends.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Kathryn Joan Parrott Reese; daughter, Connie Lea Reese Blessitt; son in law, Larry Blessitt; daughter in law, Debra Hoff Reese Newton and her husband, Brian Newton. Grandchildren include Robert Blessitt, Ashley Brooke Reese Newton Harper and husband Cole Harper, and Nicolette Newton.

In addition to his family, he leaves dear friends who are like family: Bill Butler and Mike Scherer; 15 year caretaker, Lynn Cox; 35 year office manager, Liz Stigent; master carpenter, and do it all man, Richard Welch; and many more good friends and business associates.

A memorial service will be held for Dr. Reese at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 3, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church, 4111 Airport Ave, Rosenberg, TX 77471. Visitation with the family will be held after the service in the Fellowship Hall. A private burial will be held at a later date at Davis Greenlawn Cemetery, Rosenberg.
