JULY 8, 1944 - OCTOBER 28, 2016
Warren Sherman "Sherm" Mathey, LTC USA, Ret. age 72 of San Antonio went Home to be with his Lord on Friday, October 28, 2016. Dr. Mathey was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corp and subsequently stationed near Danang Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. While stationed in Vietnam he also engaged in various humanitarian efforts such as assisting in the adoption of a Vietnamese orphan by the parents of a soldier under his command. A graduate of Spring Hill College with a B.S. Business Administration (Mobile Alabama), and The Ohio State University with a M.S. in Animal Husbandry (Columbus Ohio), Sherm, in 1976, received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University. In addition to being a radiologist for the US Army Veterinary Corp. working at the DOD Military Working Dog Veterinary Service at Lackland Air Force Base, Dr. Mathey was also a contract Veterinarian for Sea World. Sherm volunteered his time at numerous organizations including the Wounded Warrior Project. His passion was driving a cart full of children pulled by a team of miniature donkeys especially during parades and national holidays. It can be truly said of Sherm that he made a friend of whomever he met.
