Mark Joseph Martin
May 28, 1956 - October 19, 2016

Mark Joseph Martin, 60, died peacefully Wednesday, October 19th, 2016 in the presence of his family at the Community Hospice House in Burleson, Texas.
Funeral will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 22, 2016 in Lindale at Community Christian Fellowship Church under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery, a family resting place in Lindale, Texas

Mark was born the eighth child of Alfred Andrew and Harriette Hagedorn Martin in Edinburg, Texas on May 28th, 1956. Mark attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Edinburg, Edinburg High School, Pan American University, and received an Architecture Degree from Texas A&M.
Gifted with a special vocal talent, Mark’s rich, powerful, emotional baritone voice won him state honors in High School and he was a member of the Texas A&M Singing Cadets. He performed in the “Texas” pageant in Palo Duro Canyon and sang the parts of Joseph and Jesus in “The Promise” a biblical musical, in Glen Rose, Texas.
Mark’s singing and praise prison ministry led him to correctional institutes in Texas and internationally in Mexico, Russia and Israel where his compassionate voice and religious fervor impacted many lives spiritually.
Mark had very strong family allegiance and spent many years dedicated to assisting his aging parents in their home in South Texas. In his later years, Mark managed the Martin Family Farm in Tyler, Texas.
He was a member of the Covenant Church in Dallas, Grace Life Fellowship which he helped build in Van, Texas and the Community Christian Fellowship church in Lindale, Texas actively participating in their choirs.
Mark’s laughter, generosity, deep spiritual commitment, and pious living were examples to all who had the privilege to know Mark.
He is survived by sisters Theresa Whitfield of Kerrville, Tx and Meladee Martin Reitz of Portland, Oregon; brothers Fred Martin of Bryan, Tx, Mike Martin, DVM of Bryan, Steve Martin, MD of Joshua Tx, Doug Martin of Edinburg, Randall Martin, D.O. of Arlington, Tx and Chris Martin of Lake Forest, California. Mark had many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
