William Olen Adams (W.O.) met his heavenly father on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016.

He was born on the family farm in Tulia, Swisher County, Texas on April 4, 1923. He entered Texas A&M University in 1940, and upon graduation was granted a commission as a naval officer, serving aboard ship in the Pacific theater during WWII. After the war, his first employment was as a County Agricultural Agent in Rankin, Upton County. There he met and married his lifetime companion, Helen Ruth Boyd, on June 21, 1947.

Afterwards, he returned to college attaining his Master's degree in Agricultural Economics at the University of Wyoming. Upon graduation he returned to Rankin, Texas and entered the field of education for the remainder of his productive life, serving Rankin Independent School District for many years as Assistant Superintendent for Business. In 1977 he took early retirement and moved to San Angelo, Texas to seek professional aid for his wife, who had suffered a major stroke. They were blessed with one son, James Kyle Adams.

Visitation will be held from noon until closing today, Monday, Oct. 17, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at Southland Baptist Church at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, with a burial service immediately following in Fairmount Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Royal Estates for their support and loving care. We also wish to thank the staff at Hospice of San Angelo (particularly nurses Pam and Alana) for their compassion and invaluable help in this time of need. Finally, a special thanks to Hope - W.O.'s dear friend and confidant for many years.
