Elmo G. Weyel
Elmo G. Weyel, 94, of Amarillo, died September 6, 2016 in Amarillo. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Weyel was born November 6, 1921 in Bexar County to Albert J. and Louise Haverlah Weyel. He was reared in San Antonio where he attended school. After high school, he enrolled in Texas A&M University, receiving Bachelor's degree in 1943. He was a retired petroleum engineer, working for the Texas Railroad Commission, Sacroc and Chevron in Snyder and Midland. Elmo married Patricia J. Pitcock on May 22, 1943 in Houston. She preceded him in death on November 27, 2001. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. Elmo was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Midland, and served as a deacon and elder at First Presbyterian Church in Snyder. He was preceded in death by his parents and a baby sister. Survivors include two daughters, Candace Ping of Edmond, Oklahoma and Nancy Ruff and husband Mike of Pampa; a son, Steve Weyel and wife Vicki of Houston; four granddaughters, one grandson, and 12 great-grandchildren.
